NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 527

It’s not how far we go, it’s how much we savor the journey.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

Our society is focused on accomplishment. Sports, career goals, grades in school, and health and wellness targets are but a few. We feel the need to achieve to meet our own and others’ expectations.

Sometimes we hit the mark and sometimes we don’t When we don’t we likely feel bad. And anxiety about performance can make us edgy and hyper focused as we strive to meet targets. The end result is that both our effort toward the goal and life in general become less fun.

Today’s message reminds me that goals are counterproductive if I don’t enjoy myself along the way. Building desired habits won’t result in permanent changes unless my effort is coupled with happiness. My most important accomplishment is joy.

How about you? How do you approach your goals.
