Flex with it.

Some days just don’t go as planned. We have an idea of what we’d like to do or accomplish. And then reality collides with our conceptions.

It can be frustrating, disheartening, or disappointing. It’s also life.

If we’re upset about our waylaid plans, it only makes dealing with what is—as opposed to what we hoped might be—more difficult. We’re scrambling to figure out how to cope while we’re also emotionally upset.

Our problem-solving skills aren’t at their best when we’re in this type of state. If we take a moment or two to breath, slow down, and realize we can and will solve the issues which have cropped up, we will be in a clearer frame of mind.

It’s helpful to remind ourselves that things could be worse, that we can be grateful we’re alive (even if with problems), and that we have all the needed skills and experience to figure things out. When we slow down and allow ourselves to get tactical rather than emotional, we’ll find things aren’t as difficult that they might initially have seemed.

Today’s message reminds me to be flexible in the face of surprises. When I can bend with the winds of change, I’ll discover just how strong I am.
