NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 539

Our motives reveal how we feel about ourselves.

Please reflect and share. How does this play out for you?

We all have reasons for doing things. Some are benevolent and some are less so. Caring, greed, self-interest, curiosity, and maintaining status are just a few of our motivators. But at least for larger decisions, we don’t tend to act randomly. We have our reasons.

When we’re in self-reflective mode, we may evaluate our options and actions—the what of our deeds. However, the why of our selections may be more revealing. Our reasons for our choices are based in how we feel about life. This in turn is grounded in how we feel about ourselves. Our self-image and sense of self-worth drive our motivations, which are reflected in our interactions with ourselves and others.

Today’s message invites me to be more aware of my motivations, particularly subconscious ones. When I feel good about myself, my actions will be based in acceptance and kindliness. The best may to reflect more love in the world is to love myself more.

How about you? What impels your actions?
