NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 1406

Let your own good guide you

We talk to ourselves in our heads all the time. Sometimes we do so more than is healthy for us. This is particularly true if our self-talk is negative in nature.

An ongoing mental narrative isn’t necessarily bad. We simply want to make sure it is largely helpful.

We can know whether or not to pay attention to what we’re telling ourselves by the nature of the dialogue. Is the talk useful? Is it loving and accepting? Will it promote our own good and support our welfare?

If we can answer yes to these questions, it probably pays to give our attention to what we’re telling ourselves. If not, we may want to change channels, so to speak, and tune into some self-programming that builds us up in a positive way.

Today’s message reminds me that my most trustworthy and useful guidance can come from inside of me. I just need to ensure that I pay attention to the good things I offer myself.

Please reflect and share. What is the nature of your self-talk?
