NOTES FROM THE AWARENESS: 1373

Get clear.

Most of us live in a state of illusion, at least to some extent. We aren’t clear about what is or isn’t true or real for us.

And most of this fooling originates in our own minds. We generate reasons why we can or can’t do things, what we do or don’t need or want. And then we act or react if all these self-created assumptions are true.

We can begin to alleviate this tendency by sometimes asking ourselves “what if” questions. “What if my assumption isn’t real?” “What if I don’t really need to do that?” “What if what I desperately want isn’t what will make me happy?”

We can and will make ourselves feel nuts if we overdo this, but occasional questioning of our assumptions, particularly if we have intense or desperate emotions involved, may do us some favors. We just might get clear of an illusion or two.

Today’s message invites me to take a look at where I may have been fooling myself. When I’m clearer about what will make me happy, healthy, and fulfilled, a good life becomes even easier for me.

Please reflect and share. How do you fool yourself?
