Image is quite important in our society. We use clothing, makeup, hairstyles, tattoos, and accessories to visually define ourselves. In this pursuit, we accumulate cars, houses, jewelry, artwork, and technology to state who we are. By aligning ourselves with religions, sports teams, social causes, and belief systems, we attempt to validate ourselves to ourselves and others. It’s important to us to clearly communicate our identity.
In divine reality, these differentiations matter little. We are all intrinsically interconnected aspects of a divine whole. Our seeming differences mean far less than our commonality: we are all cocreators in a web of conscious divine love. When we acknowledge this freely and willingly, we recognize our true worth and that of others as well.
Today’s message reminds me that being my authentic self involves peeling away the artifices I’ve established in an attempt to define myself. In shedding self-imposed roles, behaviors, thought patterns and preferences, I become my divinely interconnected self more fully. I liberate myself to be whomever and whatever I need and wish to be in the moment by releasing a fixed identity.
